Eddie Jordan "Heinz wasn't fired by fax"
Eddie Jordan has defended his decision to dismiss Heinz-Harald Frentzen, and refutes claims that the German was sacked by fax

Heinz-Harald Frentzen alleged recently that he was surprised to be sent a fax telling him of Jordan's intention to drop him ahead of his home race, and said that the document left him 'flabbergasted'.
Despite this, Eddie Jordan insists that the pair spoke about the future on a number of occasions, and says that he was reluctant to dismiss the German before his home race three weeks ago, but that Frentzen left him with no choice.

"To say that he was dismissed by fax four days before Hockenheim is totally false," Jordan reportedly told French newspaper, L'Equipe. "I was a little surprised, because I had decided not to do him any harm before his home grand prix. Even if the problems were still the same. I wanted to give him another chance.

"I am sorry for Heinz, because with his two victories, he is the one who has won the most races for us, and I love him very much. But the team is more important than the individual. As a team owner I could not do things differently."
